Re: The Venom Crisis

Damn, our most poisonous snake in Florida, and we are loosing our, apparently, only resource for anti-venom. I remember coming across a coral snake in our northern side yard at 1252 Woodland Avenue in Lakeland. It seemed slow moving and un-afraid of us, which made us more curious. We were weeding or...

Re: Rx drug changes

I'm gonna have to chime in here... first, DVL, it is not a bad thing to park as far away as possible, in the shade, and walk into the store. I do it several times a day. I'd rather walk a distance in the sun than return to a greenhouse car with temps over 110 degrees because I chose wrongly. Plus it...

Re: Gulf Oil spill conspiracy?

My biggest concerns on "conspiracy" at this point is not whether the president was behind the disaster, or even the government (with the proven exception of the ineptitude of the Mineral Management Service). My concern is why BP has been "allowed" to command the Gulf of Mexico wh...

Re: I am tired of the tricky embedded ads!

Other than optioning to turn on the Captcha mode during initial setup, I didn't have any control of the actual questions and answers. It was a pre-made module from phpBB. DVL can opt to turn it off in the Administrator panel if he wants.

Re: I am tired of the tricky embedded ads!

I've tried IE with maximum lock-down mode on Pop-Up blocking, and have had limited success... so limited that this is the first response you've seen from me since this issue became a final posting one for me. I'm partial to IE only because my job requires me to use the most common INTERNET interface...

I am tired of the tricky embedded ads!

I don't know about the few rest of you, but I have encountered my last experience with this forum's hosts' decision to have multiple drive-by ads that overtake your browser when trying to innocently peruse the latest content. Even when I'm being cautious and trying desperately to avoid dragging my m...

Re: Ban on Texting

First, I couldn't agree more strongly about "not texting while driving", BUT (and you knew there would be a BUT with me) we already have many laws in effect concerning "driving while distracted". We do not need even more laws enacted to confuse what we already have. Indeed, if a ...

Re: Adios Metro

The deductible IS out of your pocket. It is that much less settlement paid than the value of the vehicle. Assuming the insurance company did right by you and valued the vehicle at the Blue Book price for resale, then paid you that amount minus the deductible, wouldn't you come out with less cash tha...

Re: Obama's Budget Freeze

Yes, it was during Clinton's run. In fact George W. walked into office with a budget surplus, which he managed to promptly spend chasing his Daddy's Middle Eastern enemy, while claiming to pursue both Weapons of Mass Destruction and Al-Qaeda, neither of which were proven to be a part of Iraq or Huss...

Re: Adios Metro

Out of curiosity, add up the total amount the insurance coverage cost you for the duration of the policy, and add on the amount of the deductible. Did the settlement amount equal or exceed that amount?

Re: Obama's Budget Freeze

The figures were from an article by C. Rugaber of the AP in the Business section of yesterdays Winter Haven Newschief. Thanks My main point was that this promise to the American people of a "spending freeze" is ONLY a slight reduction to the current spending of the federal government. I a...

Re: Toyota Recalls

I doubt that the U.S. House members will hold a hearing regarding "sudden unintended acceleration in Toyota vehicles". More likely it will have to do with "unintended accelerator sticking" or "continuing without decelerating" since the issue has to do with sticking acce...

Re: Obama's Budget Freeze

Post references to these claims, both the "17% of federal discretionary spending" and the "3 out of 4 Americans believe the stimulus package was a waste of money". I want to make sure this wasn't strictly a right-wing, FOX-NEWS, opinionated story. Let's deal with facts here. I gr...
